Journées du Patrimoine: Visite libre église Notre-Dame de LACHAPELLE-SOUS-GERBEROY

Self-guided tour: NOTRE-DAME de LACHAPELLE-SOUS-GERBEROY church, fully listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques since March 2011; construction date: late 11th century (primitive church).

Numerous painted decorations between the 12th and 20th centuries, including :
- a remarkable fresco depicting the legend of Saint-Eustache (14th century) in the north chapel,
- an Annunciation scene (also probably 14th century).

Presentation of part of the general diagnostic study of the church and its painted decorations; the full report on this study (93-page report drawn up by the NASCA - PARIS architectural firm under the direction of Mr. Judicaël DE-LA-SOUDIÈRE-NIAULT) will be available for consultation on site (one copy available to the public).

The complete polychromy study conducted by Mrs. Stefania DOTTI of ATELIERS RD - COMPIÈGNE will be made available to the public (one copy available for consultation on site).

Excerpt from the study: "The church at LACHAPELLE-SOUS-GERBEROY is home to some remarkable decorations, the only example, along with the church at PONCHON, of medieval wall paintings in the OISE region. The entire church has been probed in various places. The nave is rich in remains: it houses 6 superimposed decorative campaigns created between the 12th and 20th centuries

19th-century wash-house adjacent to the church.

"On-site guestbook": for the 4th consecutive year, visitors are invited to express their views in this guestbook on the future of this desanctified church, for which the municipality has launched a project to safeguard, restore and enhance it (future cultural and artistic venue, etc.).

Each visitor will be offered a diamond shortbread (while stocks last) + updated documentation (in the light of the recent diagnostic report), which may be collected on site (A4 sheet).

The 2 sites (church and washhouse) are part of the "Balade d?Histoire et d?histoires" (History and Stories Walk) tour organized by the Communauté de Communes de la Picardie Vert (tablet/smartphone application - flashcodes).
